IRD for Analogue Cable The Multi-Channel decoder is a dense solution with professional quality to feed analogue cable TV networks. The unique modular approach enables input/output options to be tailored for specific customer requirements. The first release will target the IP centric service providers enabling them to support local legacy cable TV networks with analogue must carry packages being distributed over the IP infrastructure (as shown in figure below).
Currently, most operators are forced to deploy an analogue backbone distribution network in parallel with the distribution network for digital signals. This is a costly solution since it requires different types of equipment and knowledge. Further more, the reach on the analogue distribution network is often limited to within the one city making it difficult to distribute between cities. Appear TV’s DeCore DC1000 is a regional head-end for conversion between MPEG-2 and analogue cable, all fitted into one single 4RU unit. The DeCore DC1000 will receive the MPEG-2 encoded signals from IP network as multicasts, descramble each service if required, decode and modulate the analogue signal to VHF/UHF frequency thus eliminating the need for distributing the analogue signals in parallel with the digital signals. A single unit can handle 16 channels with RF modulation and DVB common interface. In addition to DVB common interface, the DeCore DC1000 also handles AES descrambling commonly used by CA providers in the IP domain.
