Changing the way operators deliver TV

CABSAT, Appear TV demonstrate success of its modulator head-ends

Oslo, Norway – February 10, 2011

Appear TV, a global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announces that visitors to this year’s CABSAT exhibition (8-10 February, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre), will be able to see the company’s range of head-ends. These solutions provide operators with industry leading functionality and combined with high-density, producing savings in space, energy and resources.

The Appear TV exhibition booth sees demonstrations of:

  • Head-ends for cable, digital terrestrial, IPTV and satellite
  • Highly efficient and powerful bulk decoding
  • The industry’s most flexible digital modulators.

“I’m really looking forward to demonstrating not only our full range of functionality at CABSAT 2011, but also showing the industry why our ‘modular design philosophy is the way forward in a world where space, energy and resources becoming more important every day,” says Carl Walter Holst, CEO, Appear TV. “CABSAT 2011 also sees the Middle East debut for new modulators across our product range, both for DVB-T2 and DVB-S2, as well as other new functionality that helps us better meet the requirements of operators throughout the Middle East.”

Solutions appearing for the first time in the Middle East include the Appear TV’s DVB-S/S2 modulator, a fully frequency agile modulator aimed at modulating SD/HD services on to satellite. This high density modulator is capable of producing up to 2 DVB-S or DVB-S2 modulated channels simultaneously. The modulator can be integrated with all available modules making it possible to combine reception, descrambling, re-scrambling, multiplexing, PSI/SI/PSIP regeneration and DVB-S/S2 modulation in the same chassis. This Appear TV solutions offer a high-density route for Middle Eastern operators looking to take advantage of the bandwidth efficiency of DVB-S2 over traditional DVB-S modulation.

The Appear TV head range includes:

SC2000 IP streamer:
this multiple Input IP Streamer is used to stream services over IP-based infrastructure, such as a Fibre To The Home IPTV network.
MC3000 Multiplexer:
enables an operator with a digital cable head-end to create content packages to optimize utilization of cable infrastructure. The MC3000 can be configured as a central or remote head-end and for contribution and regional adaptation applications.
DC1000:
This high density solution enables the decoding of up to 30 channels in one 4RU chassis in either MPEG-2 SD/HD or MPEG-4 AVC SD/HD format. The output is either SDI or HD-SDI with embedded audio and VBI. The new multiformat module is ideal for transcoding, monitoring and studio contribution. Additionally, the advanced decoder module enables operators to migrate from standard definition MPEG-2 to next generation HD MPEG-4 formats without having to change equipment
